Canada says it will ban two of China's biggest telecom equipment makers from working on its 5G phone networks.

The limitations against Huawei and ZTE were declared by the country's business serve on Thursday.

Francois-Philippe Champagne says the move will further develop Canada's versatile internet providers and "safeguard the wellbeing and security of Canadians".

Yet, Huawei Canada said it was "frustrated" by the choice, which it said was "political".

"This is a sad political choice that doesn't have anything to do with network protection or any of the advances being referred to," an assertion said.

A few countries - including the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand - have proactively placed limitations on the organizations.
